Their party came to the inn that night, Hungry, tired, and cold; They carried weapons to fit the day, Tools of new or old. The warrior stood o'er six feet high, His tiny body looked so frail, But when he drew his sword in battle, Ne'er would his courage fail. The thief stood only an inch or two short Of meeting the warrior's face, But when retreat was necessary, none e'er were better, Nor had they such speed in the race. The healer seemed frightened of darkness below, Afraid of the monster within; The beast had already devoured some souls, The battle the healer can't win. The wizard's height matched the warrior's noble stride, His wisdom and knowledge so vast; Within the others' minds he'd seen, Their tales of the past. The warrior spoke to the innkeeper: "Where might I find Heaven's Door?" The innkeeper said, "Simply look in your heart, And from that point, you need journey no more." What is life without poetry and adventure? |
