In great pageantry
they arrive

a chorus line
across the sky

a call
to both ear and eye

to look upwards
on their returning flight

their siren song plays
amid still tentative skies

they come on a prayer
even weeks before
the new leaves
pink the trees with spring

they vie for voice
in a turbulent time

and to my heart
they override

the sounds of missiles
tanks and strife

they arrive

in tune
concurrent
with this time

they come
in majestic flight

on blind faith

and they remind

with a vision of peace

on these uncertain times

how true....love these thoughts of yours.

I have not seen or heard any returning here yet, but I enjoy it, too.   ~K~

There is joy in "returning" things..Birds that have been gone long months and the green in grass and trees. These things have a power that is beyond my comprehension...The power to make ugly things disappear for a while and allow me to forget them.. a feeling stated well right here...

"they vie for voice
in a turbulent time

and to my heart
they override

the sounds of missiles
tanks and strife"

Last week I saw a flock of about twenty five snow geese passing over me, the sky was clear and blue...I was awestruck...It was like I was viewing "a vision of peace"...

"they come
in majestic flight

on blind faith

and they remind

with a vision of peace"

For a while I forgot about how we live in a time of "the breaking of nations"...
Although war is doing that now, and has always done so...
The snow geese passed by, and along the bank of the lake where I was icefishing, two young lovers were walking, I felt a surge of nirvana....geese and lovers, that is what will carry life forward....

"Yonder a maid and her wight
Go whispering by:
War's annals will cloud into night
Ere their story die."
(Thomas Hardy.. "The Breaking Of Nations")

Gads! I have turned this reply into a novel...sorry
My mind loses all perception of time when it gets lost in the space that a good poem provides.....
