Sandman The world saddens my soul as he sleeps So I trudge along quietly, in this ever-changing desert Where mirages ease our pain; But the fear of death soon perches upon my shoulder And I shoo away that old black crow Making my soul breathe a sigh of relief, But we are watched from afar--- Mocked by cackles and curses I awake… Again my soul is lost within the sandstorm of despair, Shielding his tearless eyes from my burning hatred; Blood seeps between hard, brittle fingers As I climb to the top of forever, knee deep into myself— I begin to cry and comfort pities me, I awake… The golden sapphire like sun is a jewel in the sky, Almost opaque to the lonely wanderer, So I stare in amazement until sparkling irises turn black; Blind I am to reality, like so many other times As I feel for my souls hand through the wind, Trying to hold onto passing memories, Avoiding being pulled into decadent visions---- Razor like pebbles lick the blood from my face But I hold onto slippery hands, leery to what’s real; I awake……… I wrestle with sadness until the dawn But my pain could not overcome my adversary, So the spirit of God released my soul And gently perched upon my shoulder--- I shooed away that Heavenly white dove But from far above He kissed me and smiled, My soul awoke……… Marcel [This message has been edited by marcel (03-22-2004 09:24 PM).] |
