Too restless to rest, too stubborn to quit!
I’m so close to one hundred that I might admit
my muse has left me chomping angrily at the bit
leaving flattened white edges grinding.
Come to think it of, had the muse ever sung
Or was it all in pretend my nonsense had begun?

If mused, it mustered my energy and strength in see;
It took me to deep water, giving me a life preserver
Spooled by a thread, and with a warmth of chuckle
It whispered, “You can swim!”
So convincing it was, I found my first lap was swum.
In the mornings at four I’d wake, and splish and splash at five,
I’d swim my mile, then off with a smile, knowing I was alive.

Then gone.
If a muse actually was, had bridled me in lead
It surely knew I lacked direction, and if, in the field freed,
Sensed I’d not be able to find the water, swim the laps
or drink  spirits in-dependently.

but still I’m too restless, too stubborn to quit
(at least, I'll struggle to Write #100).

Wonderfully said!

You are very active and very beautifully creative, I would say!

Muses are fickle as fog

LOL, I could hear teeth grinding, feel that bit in the mouth. Enjoyed this one Sadie, and I always enjoy reading you.
