Aftermath (byr a thoddaid) Softly, softly, stay in hiding as the soldiers pass by riding, their horses shod with lightning, flame and smoke, and cloaked in murder-stain. Nothing left for us but mourning-- freedom's child is dead a-borning. The English take revenge for Scotland's stand, our land is cursed of God. Hear their shouts, their happy laughter. Don't cry now, there'll be time after the king's men go and leave behind-all still. They kill all hope we find. Thank you for the link to Celtic poetry. I saved it to my "Poetry Forms" file! I enjoyed your fine example of Welsh poetry! May the Celtic writing traditions live on! EA |

Enchantress, I hope you enjoy the Celtic poetry link- I sure did. Sunshine, thank you! EA, I've put the link on my favorites, so I can go back to it easily. I'm going to use that one a lot, I think. Nan (Pilgrim variety) |
