Today, I will lie in bed And breathe. I will not think about death, Or sickness, or lost puppies. Thinking only of my breath, I'll ignore the loss of passion That made up for lack of talent. I will not think about how I saw an old friend today And ran the other way. I can't. Not today. I will not weep I will not seep Into the old routine of chores. I will unplug the phones, Disconnect the internet, And turn off the TV. I found a petal from a flower I once imagined you gave me Just because I thought you might, If you knew me. I buried it in memories And went back to bed. I will not weep. I do not know whether I was then a man dreaming I was a butterfly, or whether I am now a butterfly dreaming I am a man. |

KoKo!!! How well you convey disappointment with such feeling. I liked these lines, especially... I found a petal from a flower I once imagined you gave me Just because I thought you might, If you knew me. Loved that! I like to think talent is like beauty, it is in the eye of the beholder, (or the reader as the case may be) And this is very pretty, and comes across so real. |

Sweet Koko Puff, for what it may be worth, I am so impressed with the calibre of your writing ~ and the depth from which you write! ~ and knowing how young you are, you really blow me away!!!  Love & Light, EA P.S. I shut myself off from the world at times ~ for short little periods. It helps to ground and centre me and puts life back into perspective! |
