Each Generation A young woman dressed in an elegant gown of pearls and lace She is filled with excitement for she is going to a ball this very night A new dance that is the craze She will be learning this new dance it is called the Waltz This new dance scandalous it will be the ruination of our young children. A young woman dressed in a Flapper Dress all sparkles and glitter going to a dance held at the society club A new dance that is the craze She will learning this new dance it is called the Charleston This new dance the devils work and it will be the down fall of our young children. A young woman dressed in a full poodle skirt and bobby socks going to a dance at the high school A new dance that is the craze She will be learning several dances tonight The Twist, The Stroll, The Jerk These new dances are so dirty and obscene They are corrupting our young children this is why they are so disobedient and unruly. A young woman dressed in short shorts and a bikini top going to a strip joint at the local bar A new dance that is the craze She will be learning this new dance as she flows around the polished brass pole Is it not the music, it is not the dance Is it to late for our innocent young children to learn the dance of heavenly love and devotion? Is it too late? Bon-Bon |

I'm not sure the last fits in with the others apart from being criticised as dirty obscene etc. Maybe in some way they all pay, and possibly better than the last, but that would be cynical to say that, and maybe the last is a way to the rest A friend of mine was shy of £20,000 courtesy of a Russian Pole Dancer, I just wish he hadn't descended on me afterwards. I was dragged out of my bed, in a bar in Masstricht until the early hours and he left the next morning after sleeping on my floor. That association then seemed to be the end of a friendship since I knew. Dave |

Hi Dave How this one came about....I was watching tv and the setting was back in the time of the waltz. Hidden behind fans of beauty the older women condemned the wicked form of the dance. Then I remembered the words being said of the Twist how dirty it was until I told the older generation and showed them it was just a fun dance teaching them to do the Twist with a towel. Now just the other day I see they are making the Pole Dance a form of exercise. I guess a story behind the words. Ideas flooding the mind and leading down a path that I did not know that was in hiding in the back of my memory. See Ya Bon-Bon |

I thought this was interesting and remember the days of the "dirty" twist And here my thinking goes to folk dancing and to dancing in a religious context... hm. This opens up for much thought... Thanks for sharing. (I loved the 60's) Sadie |
