Daylight breaks
With yet another
Disappointment
Yielding a truth
That must be faced
Alone

A tearless face
Watches out the window
As cloak of night
Recedes
Hoping the answer
Will be given
On the wings of a new day

Giving reason
To trust
Lips that caressed
In deceit
Hiding a truth
Knowing
To tell would bring death
to what is

I may have taken this differently than your intention but sometimes that is the power of poetry:  to take the mind in its own direction.

Thank you, you put me back in touch with something inside me that I can not afford to forget.

Sometimes illusion likes to win the game, doesn't it? An intense write, Susan, a well written heartbeat.

I like the way you made this seem like a whisper. Maybe it was just the way I read it. I guess that's one of the many great things about poetry.

I loved it!!

Susan,

this one had me thinking... I could imagine at least a couple of meanings... intriguing, indeed and well written. Thanks for sharing!
