Oh Martha, Is It Still A Good Thing? (a repost)

This morning,
while dressing
I reached for my socks,
the news kid said Martha
had lied about stocks;
now she's been indicted
and she's looking quite pale,
is this still a good thing
if she goes to jail?

Oh Martha,
poor Martha,
what's happened to you
you were my hero
what am I to do?
You taught me I could build
almost anything,
with wood,
and a hammer,
and bits of old string.

Dear Martha,
my Martha,
how did you fail?
ImClone's a dog stock
and you're looking for bail;
it's hard times for sure
you looked stylish but frail.
Can you sell off a mansion?
should we throw a bake sale?

Poor Martha,
sweet Martha,
I watched even though
my projects looked lousy,
my paint wouldn't flow,
and I knew you were bi-polar,
abusing your staff,
but we built a fine bird house
and sure had some laughs.

I'll miss you
dear Martha,
sweet Martha the Fair,
I'll miss your blue eyes
and your soft Prozac stare,
mostly I'll miss
the grand projects we'd share,
like tree ornaments
made from baggies,
clothes lint,
and snips of my hair.

So I've read the charges,
and looked up the counts,
if you've been a bad girl
I'm afraid it amounts
to somewhere between ten
and thirty years time,
if you're found guilty
in court
of insider crime.

Please Martha,
old Martha,
you once held me enthralled,
so let me assure you
though your career's stalled,
the charges against you
don't look very tall
and Danbury Prison's
quite quaint
in the Fall.

well, I dont know what to make of the whole thing, but I like the write

I don't keep up with things these days...it's not for me to decide

but yeah, I like the write

even though I found it incredibly sad
a household name fails the test,
and many souffles will fall in the end
