An unwanted roommate
Has usurped my existence
How did this squatter
Breach double-locked door?

No handsome companion
To comfort this lonely
His essence is everywhere
Despite my implore

Stealing all energy
And each joy from my life
He tear streaks my cheeks
And is tough to ignore

For each step attempted
Meets with some stumble
He’s won every skirmish
If one's keeping score

Slumber offers some respite
But dawn finds him waiting
Demanding hot breakfast
When I'd rather snore

I ache to evict him
Perhaps let a smile in
And let warmth, love and light
Replace his dismal decor

Yes, sadness creeps often in, uninvited. Very beautiful and powerful write.
May Joy counter-attack!

I know this one, I do -- has been an unwelcome visitor where I live too. I hope yours gets fixed, and soon. You deserve happiness, without the drag of inborn sadness holding you back.

All of us can say that at one time or another we have had this same unwanted roomate...I pray that with the spring your new roomate will be filled with the warmth of sunshine and love....

Suthern, it seems misery really does enjoy company.  This was a very powerful write I really enjoyed it.  Hope things get better soon.

everyone needs a bit of alone time each day to develop their senile side!!

Margherita: Joy seems to be hiding... maybe it's planning that counterattack? *S* Thank you! *S*

Ratleader: He does get around, doesn't he? *S* And the freeloader doesn't even help with the rent! *G* Thank you, my friend... so much... I hope he leaves and forever forgets your address. *S*

Martie: I thank you for that wish. *S*

Seymour: Where's pest control when you need it? *S* Thank you! *S*

vandana: Thank you! *S*

garysgirl: He manages multiple residences. *S* Thank you, sweet lady. *S*

Enchantress: I thank you so much, kind lady. *S*

Startime: I hope your prayer is heard! *S* Thank you!

PS: We've met before... thus that useless double-lock. *S* Thank you! *S*

Goldenrose: Thank you so much... for both the liking and the sympathy. *S*

Kicking Kim: ROFL... I love that!!! *G* Thank you for a much needed grin! *S*

ethome: I'd love to take you up on that offer... that's incentive enough to keep trying the kick. *S* Thank you! *S*

jellybeans: He might as well be good for something... he's certainly not good company! *S* Thank you, my friend... may we both shed this companion soon. *S

I wasn't even going to comment...for what solace does the comfort of mere words offer...but when I read your reply that he doesn't even help with the rent...tell him to:

1.  Grow up
2.  Get a life
3.  Be a man

Then kick his gluteus maximus onto the streeticus proximus!

(big angel hugs) God Bless You, sweet friend, your heart shines with such compassion in this piece as your heart would redecor any room in anyone's heart who feels doleful or rejected! (smiles) Yay, I love this, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Suthern, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

I think saddness is a very negative entity who would rather evoke inspiration to his side.  It's all around us...in the news, on the radio...people, and strikes the cords of each individual automony who buys his deceipt.  Don't listen to em...evict him, burn the bugger out....ignore his anger, sour notes...put on a happy tune and forgetabout it.  Smiles and hugs...love Lee J.

Suthern, sad poem for sure, but oh so intelligently written -- loved the meter of this, really enjoyed it even though it was sad.  It really would do well with music.   ........jo

Don't sit there girl, butt him out of your life and breathe the air of happiness.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown
