To me you were the sunrise, the dawn awakening,
the cool breeze that caressed my face on a hot
summer’s day. The gentle hand upon a small boy's
shoulder.  The steadying grip,  the true and
skilled aim...all a boy could ever want, need or
desire to have...

The shower that brought life, the life that brought
smiles,   the smile that lasted ages...until that day.

Fall was not kind, the merciless winds of autumn
blowing, the snows that fell early upon hardened
earth, earth dug laboriously that you might rest
within that darkened place, as ropes gently
lowered my sun, moon and stars,   and I wept
uncontrollably.

I still remember each day when I dug a can of
worms, them wiggling cheerfully in the bottom
of an old coffee can.  Having filled it countless
times, often just returning them to their own
place within mother earth, a place tended with
care and kindness...fishing was such a treat.

A place, not unlike your own...tended tenderly
as rains fell and mingled with the tears that fall
to this day....and always will.  For that was
a merciless Fall when death stole you away.
When the heart of a kind and gentle man finally
stopped, as we both shed a tear...

You are not forgotten....Thank You PawPaw
for all you gave to me...things my Dad never
could...he would thank you too....

Love is surrounding this poem. So gentle and tender. So hard to lose a person that we love deeply, but as this poem shows he is still held within your heart with love.

And how could you not adore your PawPaw -- a fisherman among men.  I understand, my Grandpa took me fishing, too. This was a very tender flowing memory.  Thank you for sharing this special man with us.

**sigh** Boy do you ever know how to bring tears to the eyes...This vision from your past is so clear that I could see the shining eyes of excitment you had....You ever amaze me with the talent that flows so wonderfully from your heart...I love it....
