Hidden in a letter, I’d found by only chance
Was all the passion hidden and the words of true romance
Desires and the wantings, the thoughts that lovers speak
The giving and the taking, which would make another weak

There were words which told a story and the tale that led to love
The thankyous and the pleasures that were sent from God above
There were feelings so descriptive, that it made me feel as there
A letter with a fragrance that now lingers everywhere

It told a telling story of a girl that longed to share
A love deep down inside her that was hard to hold and bare
The prayers she kept on praying, that her lover might return
Of how her days were lonely and just how her love did burn

----------------------

I turned sad, for in the corner were the words that said deceased
Her lover was a soldier, which a war had not released
The letter never reached the eyes of one she loved so dear
But found the eyes of others that had written all so clear

The knock upon the door had told the tragedy of war
The letter that they held was hers, but then she wanted more
They told her of the bravery, how proud they all should be
In silence she just died inside, to never wander free

She never wrote another as the one that held her heart
For when it never reached him, all her world just fell apart
And she just lived on memories of the moments they had shared
Two lovers that were parted by a world that never cared

---------------------

It made me think of good times and the era we now live
Of just how very lucky we all are to love and give
It made me somehow selfish and wanting more to be
Sincere in every action and to share the love in me

Hello Rick

I cannot believe that such a fine piece of writing has not been commented on yet.  I am in total awe at this heartfelt piece of writing.  You always give so much of yourself Rick when you are writing and this is a glowing example of the abundance of love you have in your heart.

(big angel hugs) Oh Rick, this is so very touching, dearest friend, this made me cry as sadly this is ever too common as long as men keep warring, when they should be saying "What are we fighting for, and is it worth it?" (sad sigh) Nothing can ever come between their love as it is true and golden, God Bless You, you have a most sympathetic heart, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Rick, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton
