The Selfish Value Of Suffering The Children |

Sitting here short of breath, surrounded by all my life, the varied instruments of death and mayhem, I wonder if my punishment for living has been being left alive. Why are some humans born with innate talents formed deeply in our souls, which make us easily become so facile in such monstrous skills? I believe it's will bent to profit twisted aims of others, but I could easily believe, as I was taught from birth, that I was satan's child born with bad blood, destined to be wild, hopelessly condemned to walk the earth only on the paths of death and sin; yet too many times I have looked into the eyes of infants, the purest lenses on the world, mirrors which never lie, and have not seen, and have not felt, a single light of reflected reprobation; in truth it is only in this simple act of touching, through these windows to the collective human soul, that I feel the rarest sense of approbation in their gift of pure acceptance and elation. ©2004 by icebox |

icebox "it is only in this simple act of touching, through these windows to the collective human soul, that I feel the rarest sense of approbation in their gift of pure acceptance and elation." In the eyes of an infant, there is no judgement. Much thought went into this poem....thank you for sharing it. *hug* |

I loved the entire piece, so poignantly beautiful and so well written, but the line that I liked best was: "the purest lenses on the world" --such a beautiful description for the innocence of those tiny windows to the purest of souls. |

but I could easily believe, as I was taught from birth, that I was satan's child born with bad blood, destined to be wild, Iceman, I was taught this by my Dad from the time I was a little girl. Every time he would get aggravated with me, he would say I was just like his sisters, who were a little wild when growing up, but all so lovable. LOL And this part I relate to, also........ yet too many times I have looked into the eyes of infants, the purest lenses on the world, mirrors which never lie, and have not seen, and have not felt, a single light of reflected reprobation; in truth it is only in this simple act of touching, through these windows to the collective human soul, that I feel the rarest sense of approbation in their gift of pure acceptance and elation. That unconditional love is so good no matter who it happens to come from. Acceptance is so needed at times. I'm keeping this too, if you don't mind. Hugs, Ethel |

I think those eyes still hold knowledge from the life before... I try to remember the lives I have touched..good, bad, indifferent and know there was something to be learned from it. "sit on top of the world and tell me how you feel...'cause what you feel is what I feel for you.." |

if only in the eyes of a child, sir... one has to sometimes ask indeed if there is something to be redeamed.... but when the childs innocence ignores what ever it is inside that we and maybe others see as not fit for or out of place with "normal conventions or experiences" we are for a moment at least.. unjudged by anything but the us we are at the moment... (shrugging) perhaps there is nothing to redeem us... and redemption is simply a concept we invent... truth is of course.. I'm not sure anyone knows... |

What a sad beautiful poem. An opinion here: the judgemental eyes and mouths of some others are full of poison. Every human is precious and worth more than they could ever know. (despite the road they've walked) May the days and years of your life be full of the goodness you've experienced already from children - in every direction you turn your head and mind sir. |

Beautiful poem, and too bad of suffering children, our brightest hope. Through the years I've learned that children are great survivors and inspirers. Enjoyed your write very much. ~Sadelite~ |

"pure acceptance and elation" This is what is lost when we grow up, the worlds actions shows us that we must not... But I don't want to grow up anyway, haven't done so yet, and it is too late to start. enjoyed________ice ><> |
