When Most Needed |

It was something mysterious, a very puzzled atmosphere When I looked around discovering formality in wear, Professionals in uniforms coupled with those of expensive suits Hovering in our lobby to uncover their pursuits. As I tried to avoid notice, slipping casually by, My name was announced not once but thrice By a warm-eyed suited guy. "Sadie, Sadie, Don't you remember me?" I knew those drilling sunshine eyes But wouldn't you know it, missed the name in dread. I called him Charlie; his name was Rick! Since seventh grade, we'd been Mutt-and-Jeff friends. (Of no consequence the name I missed, still his eyes smiled.) Hm. Pleasant surprises come in the least expected ways; When they are the most needed, disguised they become displayed. I have had this happen to me. So what if you couldn't remember the name...it's just a label anyone. I enjoyed this. |

Terrina, Glad to hear from you Lady. I've been missing your posts. Enchantress, (That was a positive comment, but it should have been his name I remembered. He was one very nice person, extraordinarily kind. We were band buddies--there were a bunch of us that always hung together. Nothing more. It was a delight to remember the good times we all had in high school and junior high. Thanks Enchantress, for stopping by and the positive comment. Sadie Grover, You've got that right. I still remember my Louis Lamour chase when I tried to get an autographed book for a retiring colleague. I started researching, made phone calls in several distant states. The three month chase took me from Ohio to California, Colorado, Wyoming, and I don't remember where else! Someone out there had a phone number of an Ohio man who stopped in a Wyoming drugstore to find himself interviewed by 20/20 where Louis Lamour was autographing books. They knew he had an autographed copy. I called him, and miraculously, he himself was a retiree of the same profession, didn't particularly care for the book and willing offered it to my friend. (He said Mr. Lamour had written him a couple of letters and he'd value those instead, but would have to take a trip to get everything out of the lockbox --This is the truly amazing part. After a three thousand mile chase, the book had been sitting in the bank in a small rural town only two blocks away from where we worked all the time!!! We never know what's out there!!!! vandana, I'm glad you did. You must have slipped in PIP when I wasn't looking. See you at your post. iliana, When I switched to oboe, I sat next to Rick, bass clarinet, I think. He was kind enough to tolerate my squeaks and bad jokes.(Just had to ask his family over next week- I'm eager to meet them and catch up on things!) BE GOOD. Sadie |
