So this is it This is us This is what we have become Fade to black, block out the light As white oleanders float to the ground Where’s the truth Where’s the passion Where’s the knowledge that I crave Gone away its locked up tight As if saved for a rainy day But the day has come Fast and fierce As the color yields to gray No more rainbows in the mist to find An evil has come our way So hold your course And keep it steady, with silent thoughts and a word of praise For this is it, this is what we are And what we shall be Will be forged in the darkness today No more pink ribbon sighs Or starry eyed candy For that is lost to us now We must look ahead to the dreary gloom To the future ahead that awaits So hold my hand Clasp it tight As we chaise the shadowed monsters away And we shall face it together For we must grow up this day Because of you I laugh a little harder, smile a little more, and cry a little less |

Good job! It makes me wonder, have you ever read the book White Oleander? I was just wondering b/c you mention them and the poem seems to apply well to the theme of the book. Keep it up! |
