Why did the fear have to start When did all the goodness stop pouring from the heart Hate killed Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. As he tried to better the lives of his followers When did Barbie Dolls and Hot Wheels Get replaced by guns and drugs Hate killed four African American children At church choir practice Why did hitting and punching Start replacing kisses and hugs Hate is the lynching Of a gay man in Texas When did school become a battle zone Hate caused the trench coat mafia To be created at Columbine High School And you can be killed if Your skin is not quite the same tone Hate is the Ku Klux Klan and the Black Panthers Both are fighting for the survival of “their race” Where if black, brown, or white Will decide if you will be friends or fight Hate is the stupid comments and jokes Created by ignorant people intended to hurt one another When did encouraging words get replaced by Words that hurt and make others cry Hate is the unfair treatment of a person Because others feel they are better Why is love replaced by hate Hate is allowing uncontrollable things Control your opinion of someone Why are we so silent And not jumping up to debate hate is what caused September 11th 2001 Is it because we know our world's fate If our youth continues to hate Hate is the one who does not forgive Stop the hate *~*Nessa Bear*~* Living a normal life is not living a life...it's living for everyone else *~*Nessa Bear*~* |

awesome message in your words, but the title really put me off... I thought this wasn't going to be as good as it was.... |

I have to agree with Sea here, your poem packs a real message and very strongly too, but the title threw me off at first too, and I figured it was going to be a rant of some sort. Perhaps a change of title? Excellent message and I could see you put a lot of thought and work into it. Carpe' Diem |

wow, I must say I was not expecting this much of a response...so it is very much appreciated...I wrote this right after one of my good friends (who happens to be black) was jumped by a group of kids at my school, simply because of his color...it really hurt me to visit him at the hospital and I realized just how much hate is still around...and it got me to thinking about how far we haven’t come and how much ignorance is still around the world...I'm glad that it seems I got that point across....but if anyone has any ideas about a title, I would graciously appreciate some ideas-I named it this simply because I couldn't think of anything catchy...anyway help would be great...thank you again for your kind words :o) *~*Nessa Bear*~* Living a normal life is not living a life...it's living for everyone else *~*Nessa Bear*~* |
