i took a look in a mirror but didn't recognize the reflection all my life i had been trying to live in the best way i possibly could but the tattered polaroids and love letters no longer meant anything anymore somewhere out there i knew she had already moved on with her life without me i could remember the words she said like it was yesterday i could still make out her retreating figure when i silently screamed for your return i remember your touch each tear on your face a pain in my side the sting on my lips still lingered from your final goodbye but i could still make her out in the distance if only she knew my pain..... if only i knew hers. lonely nights under the infinite sky counting each star as the number of times i left you heart broken, my soul had gotten on the train back home with you and I was alone once again a life without you was a life without myself my memories faint silouettes pinned on the blank walls of an empty void inside of me attempting to live once again i stepped out into a world i no longer knew where my presence was no longer noted by the eyes of someone special looking in the cloudy window panes of my wretched soul i recognized your reflection a memory scattered about the tattered pictures and letters from someone i no longer knew |
