we stumbled down the cement stairs from our long afternoon beneath sheets of lust and comforters of smiles. your little toes grazed the sand and felt the friendliness of an early august - the sunlight in your hair, your sleepy eyes... they glanced at me, blinked once, twice and wrinkled as you laughed when I spilled my water and my pent-up frustration onto the rocks that were now in front of us both.
