i. spilling across the table top, you were never open enough to smile. grab amongst the air, entangle your arms around my innermost thoughts. this is she, this is her, but who are you in the darkest of nights? don't know who i ever thought i was kidding, thinking i could be 'like' her, the way the moon shines full every night around these parts of town. it is always irreplaceable, the way i fall into these traps as if i have set them up for myself. for failure, for imperfect perfection, for you, and maybe for him. sometimes. ii. so tell me what it takes to make a heart, (let go) of all of this power, these emotions harbored and worshipped in a state of guilty like panic. the deepest pools of my heart, like mystic water, like gold dust. the simplest of tasks becomes hard, but my heart won't beat fast anymore. can't put into tangible words how i've felt, the vowels like sticky glue against my throat, the air in which sucks the oxygen out of my lungs. forgiven, now tell me, when will we ever be forgiven in this heating of our sins? pour this over our heads, and let our feet do the walking. i've promised to stopped talking, the lies in rewind, our love in fast forward. pour this over our heads, and let us somehow to forget. wash away the memories, as they die on the wings of remembrance. |
