i. we were never soul mates. pressed into your neck and the shivers, [the shivers, the goosebumps]... your hands. as you would take me so far away, so many times as the clock would remind us every hour, we are losing [losing a part of ourselves to one another]. ii. running rapidly back to home. in new jersey, onto your sheets. the ones that i have felt beneath my very own feet. breathing in through glassy air. somewhere we are unstable, unable [to pick up the pieces]. so far away, the distance is silence wrapped up into airy words in which no one seems to understand. iii. etched in stone, the looks that you've shown me. vulnerability crossed off all over our faces, redemption trampled on from numerous sorry attempts. hiding from the mirror; hiding from the wounds. somehow breathing under water, somehow the innocence still intact; running around and around beyond broken hearts. beyond the forever, ever, ever, never. iv. falling down onto rubbery knees. and i laid myself down and rode out the tide until the wounds showed blood. [a sign of our battle]. your battle. my battle. but never ours to begin with. it was all the romance propped up inside of us that we never bothered to scrap away. you saved yours within the summer heat, but mine. they are still all that i seem to have left of who i am. |

very cool poem. I am impressed. I speak insanity. I write fantasy. I sleep reality. |
