missed it around here...

the smell of half-brewed coffee always
goes down easier in the morning when
hangovers are imminent and we wake up
still drunk and drinking and stumbling.
and i saw the sun rise some mornings but
never really saw it set and
i wonder if jokes are being played.
we've got this way of making the
world seem so much smaller than it
really is and whenever i am out
in the city it still amazes me that there
are so many people in the world i
will never get to know.

behind fuzzy haze i can see
that we are coffee and milk mixed,
perfect, but not for everyone.

why tear at something that is already good? i liked this...especially the idea of seeing people you'll never truly know.  the weirdest occurence is getting close to someone that you never thought you would...if that makes sense haha. anyway, good stuff.

Hey Jennifer, It's good to see you back within these blue pages. I really enjoyed this piece, it reminds me of those mornings where you are still awake from the night before talking with your friends over a drink or two and also of the time when I first came to live in a city when everything seemed so big and busy and how I seemed so insignificant. Hope to see some more of your work around here.

...you remind me of someone. Or am I just massively confused?

Haha, Leah---I second that.

Anyways---onto the poem.
I really enjoyed this and have to agree with Andrew on this one. This poem was calming---in a reminiscent sort of way...

Haven't seen you in a while, m'dear. Nice to see you floating about.

I love the ending but yours are always strong that leave an aftertaste in the mouth. Very subdued read but not entirely a bad thing.

Good to see you, so to speak.

~AF~

I'm not being rude. You're just insignificant.

Thank you guys - I figured I would let you know that: a) I am still alive, b) I am still writing, and c) that this place is always a part of my heart.

Marshal - Thank you so much!  A huge compliment from an amazing poet.

Leah - I dropped my penname.  I feel like it's time to (finally) be real.

Android - A little weird, huh?  So, let me explain - my name is Jennifer Marie.  I always used my middle name.  I don't like that now.  Eh, we're always changing, aren't we?

AF - good to see you too   e-mail me.  I miss you.  (And worry about you).  Don't make me worry about you!

Thanks for remembering, guys.  It means so much.

Jennifer
