Last game of season
Talked about for weeks
gonna be the best game ever
and it’s finally here
Under the lights
for the first time in history
Pre-game practice is great
plays all planned out
calls made
my parents actually manage
to show…heh.
'best friend' too
she screams to me
don’t care...down by ALOT
Family stays silent
Do they want to be here?
Half time and half dead
heart pounds tearing open my chest
trying with all the might
in my bruised and muddy body
to come from 30 points behind.
We need a miracle
Or plays and concentration
Second half, only half my second wind
only thoughts are on the try line 50 meters away
haven’t seen it in 30 minutes
getting pounded left and right
on the ground each time
all rage going to the legs
legs that must hit
hit as hard as the body will allow
not good enough
body meets the ground again
more furious every time my head smacks the earth
knocks every play
Scrums killing me
mind tells me to quit
cant, too pissed to give up
Last play…and it’s over
the game, the season
the only thing I have.
lost 39 to 5
like it was our first time on the field
shake hands-good game

Tried my hardest, everything I had
the stands empty now
Parents? They were here?
Equipment away for the winter
may not see the field in the spring.
So parents? not in the stands,
not on field,
not by gate,
all the cars are gone
everyone’s gone, standing alone in the dark
My mind even left
me and the field
they left without even a 'good game'
the tears pierce my eyes like razors
Should have known
But they actually came
this time.
it’s all done, over
the game, the season, only thing I have.

done, gone
no more, LOST!
