Darkness around me, Gripping me tight, Holding on so dearly, Trying to take hold of my life. At first you were nothing more than a feeling, Something so small I chose to ignore. But now this feeling has become stronger. You're constantly growing, Tempting, nagging, I can feel it. Convincing me I'm going nowhere, I'll never be something. Constantly you’re dragging me down, Spiraling, I can feel it. I'm in so much pain, I'm so lost and down, Confused by these ridiculous standards of life. Pushing, nagging, I can feel it. Constantly pressuring me, I couldn't take it, The end felt like the only way out. My only chance to escape, The pressure and depression I now face. But doing so would mean that I let you win. That I let you take hold of me, Overthrow my will to survive. My will to grow, to go on, To become what you don’t want me to be. What is left for me now? But to stand to my feet, Shake myself free, Of the darkness surrounding me. The road ahead is neither clear nor easy, But it is life. And somewhere out there, Is who I want to be. Now nothing will stop me. |

"And somewhere out there, Is who I want to be. Now nothing will stop me." Loved this poem...especially this ending...it's good that you realized not to let this person "win". ~Alli~ *:.AIM = Alli4000.:* My Journal |

good poem, but way too long... just my opinion, though. other people may like long poems. Freedom is the dream of sleeping reality. |
