Nothing but a drifter
Drifting in and out of life
Eyes all bright with glitter
The unshed tears of strife

Always seeking lonely souls
Eager to lend a helping hand
Always playing roles
A human rubber band

Comfort to the weary
All I’ve ever been
A shoulder for the teary
Taking confession of darkest sin

Love they always claim
As their feelings true
I guess I’m to blame,
I guess I always knew

That love it was not
Just a rebirth within
An absence of rot
And yet I always begin

To love in return
Believing untruth
That they won’t burn,
But instead sooth

The tormented heart
Living within
Torn all apart
By my own sin

I should have realized
It’s not a drifter’s lot
To be truly prized;
To have what I have not

For I’m naught but driftwood
Destined only to rot

Part of knowing where I'm going
is knowing where I've been

I really love this one alot! It's very descriptive, and sad.
Great way to end it. Im glad you're still posting.

But Im comforted
by the fact that I can hurt inside
all I want to
without anyone ever knowing
