Deception written on your lips,
smudged memories of my lipstick.
Desire cut into your skin, shown by
the nail marks I scourged into your back

A life of lies I'd know nothing about
if it wasn't for you;
A world of empty passions, of one night stands,
a broken heart that you can't replace.
I kiss you, hug you, hold you in the deep dark night, but I'm not really with you.
As I take you, I don't know you,
I don't want you.
You're a shadow of the man I want,
you will never know the true me.
Because you aren't the man I want,
you are nothing that I need.
You know nothing of the real me.

I might have messy hair, runny makeup and a tear-steaked face, but at least I know I have loved.

sometimes i wonder if anyone knows what they truly want...

great poem! Made me think a bit about my past and some things i've done in my love life.
