1862,1864, Cold Harbor, I died twice. 1863,Gettysburg, We fell apart, in a storm, of bullets. 1914,1918, in France, coughing blood, mustard gas. 1939,1945,Europe, G.I. Joe. Yanks. Bled out on the beach. 1950,1953, Korea, Share the fox hole, with the frozen, enemy corpses. 1954,1975, "The Nam", stinking sweat, napalm, snipers, rain in open eyes... Faulklands, Bosnia, Kuwait, Middle East.. Road side cowards, today. We die in every battle! We pray our lives are not lost in vain. But we do not bow, politics aside, we serve our countrymen. Sometimes thanks, sometimes spit upon, in the end, worth it? Family, friends, souls and limbs, sometimes lost. We die every day... That's how it is when you Soldier! "Ask not what your country can do for you..." [This message has been edited by click1 (03-18-2004 09:52 PM).] |
