Here's my first posted poem on this forum. Enjoy. THE VULTURE There lies among stern mountains steep A path that winds its reptile way Into a valley dim and deep Where sorrow holds eternal sway Within this valley drear and dim There hulks upon a withered tree Upon a sick and tattered limb A brooding vulture, hunched and grim It shuffles slow and silently Upon that gnarled and tortured limb It huddles low eternally Within this valley dark and dim The people live despondently Oppressed by dismal lethargy They trudge this land, their heads hung low Their thoughts distraught by doleful woe But lo! the people know its name And yes! they guess from whence it came The bird has roosted here for years Destroying hope—inbreeding fears This morbid creature shadows gloom The symbol of eternal sorrow The shadow of internal doom The harbinger of no tomorrow The people can no more abide This sluggish vulture, dread and grim Their hollow thoughts turn suicide Within this valley dead and dim And still the vulture crouches lone Upon its bleak and blighted throne Within this valley dark and dread With all its people dead [This message has been edited by Insomniac Cat (09-24-2003 07:56 AM).] |

I totally agree with serinity. You have a talent for dark poetry. Your vocabulary and your use of words in this peice helps make it all the more depressing and profound. It is great to see you here, I am interested to see more of your work. |
