Tragedy is a highway divider, cutting through a semi And it pins you, always keeping you below the surface That summer air is just a mile away, above this frozen lake And how that sand, can just surround a man The middle of your life, is the cloaked end-man Waving and singing: “I’ll see you soon” His sickle an upside down smile, twirling through the rain The way the world drips off of it, tangled up in falling leaves He’ll just walk away, but you’ll see him tomorrow, that’s how it’s been ever since… Coldness is the birds leaving, to fly away to something more Shaking hate off of their feathers, longing for yesterday Their eyes so deep and hollow, signals their fading light Their song, is just a scream from the spiral of turmoil And every piercing note, is let go, just for you Hanging up your jacket, so you can sit down Let that chair wrap itself around you, red and drowsy The way it breathes for you, the way it lets you slip And there’s you, looking at yourself drowning beneath the ice Just put your feet up and enjoy the show Home is just where you rest your bursting head Where your ears tell your life story to the pillows thread And the sheets are just a layer over the mess the day became If only those springs knew, they held the weight of the world The end of your life, is the final “hello” It’s that archway tunnel, the one with bricks that sway And the doorman, who always said “I knew you once, before you fell” That tunnel has vines, they reach out, begging you to stay We’ve all walked it, but until it’s time, we never reach the end And finally there it is and it leads you into the frozen lake Here you can unpin yourself, here you can find your way A hole is only as deep as you can let it go I once saw a perfect man find a cave It’ll call out to you “come stay with me, I’m all you’ve got left” Every hole wants to be filled, to feel less alone But not you, that’s not your fate anymore You cast your stone, to help that hole feel more whole The reflection in the doorknob that you never could turn Isn’t always where you saw yourself at the end But it’s telling you: “Turn me now, around, around” Beyond the door who knows… You’re there, you’re there… |

Wow. I don't even know what to say to something so good. "Home is just where you rest your bursting head Where your ears tell your life story to the pillows thread And the sheets are just a layer over the mess the day became If only those springs knew, they held the weight of the world" I believe this will be one of my favorite things to read and remember for a good, long time. "I don't need to scream for you to deem me aggravation." |

Its a story, and I wish my poetry was more able to be a story, instead of rambling emotions with no structure. Excellent. Your poetry gets deeper each time I read. ~Lex |
