The Light

I inhale my worries deeply
And exhale the scent of purple sunsets
Gaining the strength and confidence
To again walk that straight line without fear
Deviating from self-conscious thoughts
With feet burned twice over many
The agony
The time between idle time
Feet and heart peeling
Healing
Visions of Prometheus
Paying for pleasure with flesh and nakedness
Branded on my skin the scars
Tattoos that mark my determination
Over the darkness and temptations
My birthright just beyond my touch
But dreams and faith have made promises
To eventually transform my soul
Into the bright white light seldom seen
Embracing the golden handles of flaming swords
Named righteousness and forgiveness
Perhaps it is my destiny
To be a guardian angel for sinners and saints
So I smile at what must be
And take another step for what will be
As faint flickers of flames lick my hands
And evil scatters in fear
My time quickly approaching……..

Marcel

Oh Marcel..... this is a truly amazing piece. It has truly struck me.

Our scars are the foundation for what we have become
