I stare at nothing for nothing entices, The state of my being, suppressed distress. Lost in the what-if’s and maybe’s that overpower, The will of a disillusioned mind, is but a coward. The outside world, so alien to me, My life locked in erstwhile dreams. Ones now morphed to vile nightmares, Fangs of the evil in them, bloody and bare. Why oh why, do you haunt my senses? Your nubile figure, in my eyes it flitters. The hand that snuffed your wistful life, Hangs limp and broken, like my soul tonight. The lilting sound of those drops of rain, Reach my ears as they knock on my pane. Towards the window I move entranced, And see my breath misting up the glass. I write your name on the moisture formed, Watch it fade with my breath so warm. And there I stand hoping I would too, Fade away soon, in this soulless room. |
