love birds on two
parakeets on three
in stainless steel cages
locked away
with Alice’s key

third floor
going up warden
ladies separates
and underwear

tiny bird faces
sup and sip tea
in rosebud nighties
with terry cloth bibs

dinner at six
bedtime at seven
no time for stories
in axenic wonderland

paramecetol
or two little blue pills,
clean diapered fannies
and bright shiny faces

nestle the birdies
all snug in their beds,
cover the cages
with disposable linen
