bamboo shadows on the tatami mat
a gathering of crows on the fallen snow
my bones, the ragged branches of a winter tree

sleet at dawn in the whistling wind
the sound of water beating against stone
my voice, the cry of a loon on a winter sea

stir of wind in the river poplars
koi floundering in a shallow stream
my breath, the train that arrives and departs

a white chrysanthemum fading in twilight
star at the center of the apocalypse
my body, the lily floating in a tunnel of light

bittersweet and blood orange blossoms
enameled on the funeral urn
my ashes, the unborn child in monsoon rain

beautifully dark. Life ended, sadly, in poetic beauty.
Each S, a traditional Japanese painting.
Elegant!!
