When the farmers scurried for their own goats, they saw clouds cast shadows of a ghastly darkness. When the little boy cast his first pole over a gleaming summer lake, the sharp of the hook suddenly went crumbling. It Never Watched Over Us Even the stars saw the trees frown, when the smog of burnt dull roofs filled the air. We have heard thunder that came from above in its purity, but this time it was sent from Hatred. It Never Watched Over Us The poppies bled their own nectar, when they saw their soil give toasty bed to chilly corpses. This time different tears ran down our cheeks, that tasted of Suffering’s bitterness, and not of Hope’s saltiness. It Never Watched Over Us So as all our Remembered sway with the trees, its leaves do not forget to shine sanguine against the moon’s paleness. Through time we foolishly believed, that It would always watch over us. It Never Watched Over Us This “innocence”. |
