boxing up a generation’s remnants for goodwill’s indifferent racks ... - a bridal gown with caul like veil that hid from him her desperation to escape in his pound of flesh from the cold rooms of her childhood where wedded ghosts clenched fists and bit tongues in hateful beds - a bible with the names of blood relations who turned their backs in shame when the madness struck again, and left orphans on unfamiliar doorsteps, to shiver in their fear-stained rags wrap these heirlooms in the brown paper of re-gifted things, return them to their rightful owners and let the needy be [This message has been edited by JenniferMaxwell (09-23-2007 07:38 PM).] |
