in pockets of my hair shirt I carry them around portraits of the family dressed in their peculiarities emblazoned across the breast of each the crest of self-destruction a common thread that runs like blood down branches of the family tree in the war of thorns and roses darkness drew first blood and was the sword the first generation fell upon before the battle had hardly begun like pieces on a chessboard they moved from square to square with children as advancing pawns in their files of psychosis and addiction left to carry the standard for the fallen band of innocents, I choose my battles wisely and avoid all close encounters with familial kings and queens of despair [This message has been edited by JenniferMaxwell (09-14-2007 10:01 AM).] |
