You've been there... haven't you? You would've taken this path... You should've refused to do that... You could've spoken the truth... done what's right. But... you let yourself go. Instead, you acquiesced to a hope... Succombed to a prayerful desire... Plain and simply, you did for another against yourself. It's neither funny nor easy... The scars you self inflict... The torture you willingly allow... (Yeah, you guessed the last line)... When love gets in the way. Wings bruised from turning away in such confined space...Not broken...still healable...still feathered with life, somewhere |

I missed you, Carrigan. The last stanza was everything I needed to read and everything that makes me want to shy away from the world in poetry once more. It's never funny nor easy, but I'm sure we can make it so if we band together. I think this poem deserves one of those old Pip Oscar Awards. "Touche", my dear. Love - Hollow. Courtney. I love it! Especially the last line where you said 'yeah you guessed the last line'... that made me giggle. I love when I read something that I feel came from the heart... this one definately did! |
