Oh what could bind us to the earth when God decrees the time has come to close the gate and leave behind our mortal frame, a weary world of tears and pain? Those we love and hold most dear fear the darkness of our passing, the airless chasm of our absence, our ascension into the void beyond their grasp. Shall we deny the loving hand that lifts us up on golden wing to Paradise, the better place, and pray remain so that we may be their comfort? Trust that in but hours to come all the weeping will be done and hearts that mourn today will join us soon in that place beyond their fears, beyond our pain. Very good poem. "the airless chasm of our absence" liked this a lot, tells so much in so few words. |
