left on her own with milk still on her lips, little red kit closes the barn door on the den where mongoose and viper are at it again spitting and hissing. little red kit is really quite clever and confident the world is all jam packed full of berries and cream that will tickle her nose and stick to her whiskers. so all kitted out with a pail to fill now and jelly jar for winter, she skips on down her yellow brick road to the blackberry patch, licking her lips and burning her bridges. off in the distance the rumble of thunder and the scent of the hunter, but her path is one way, there’s no exit ramp, no turning back, trailing nettles have stingers, new thorns await. |
