I would be the luckiest girl in the world to have you by my side But you have another, together you shall weave misery, a fine tapestry The unsympathetic tendrils of desolation slowly choking you, the darkness taking over That man you once were is lost With every miserable day you spend with her, you drift further away You don’t deserve this, but you think you do. The pain in your soul bears down on me like a dead weight on my chest The darkness encompassing you with a thick wave of dread. Where is the light, the escape? Amid the sadness and pain you allow to govern you, hides all the happiness and love you deserve. For a fleeting moment, you have a vision, then darkness resumes it’s place; slapping your face with its icy reality, your dreams vanish, as if they never were. |

I will be the first to admit that my tendancy is to read in open, for I find dark poetry to be very depressive, but I must admit that this poem struck me differently. An excellent first write.
