Why is it I died a thousand times Waiting for you to show up tonight? Knowing the world begs me be smarter... I wrapped a present and left it At the threshold of your door... your heart... After you conquered the world and returned You found that little box And you were giddy contemplating contents, Knowing it must be grandeur Given the beauty of that gold foil ribbon With that perfect heart shaped bow Imagine my surprise as I saw yours When nothing seemed inside but a cotton wad... The one that, hours before, had absorbed The single tear I allowed as goodbye... To those tainted eyes that attract me no more Wings bruised from turning away in such confined space...Not broken...still healable...still feathered with life, somewhere |

Been there, done that. Well, actually she was clutching at my pants legs, but I left anyhow. Oh, heck. Who am I fooling? I went back as soon as I cooled off. I was a sucker... Now, repeat that ten times and you have summed up my love life. I WISH that I had had the fortitude to do as you did in your short, sweet and to-the-point write. Good job. John I prefer to be a dreamer among the humblest, with visions to be realized, than lord among those without dreams and desires. -Khalil Gibran |
