At the cemetary the overcast sky shadowed my own mood, A black pit of remorse and anguish settle over the people and the gravestones. The sun unseen, the dead unseen, the trees today merely cold wood Today it is not a place of rest and honour merely a land of grey tones. Faded Christmas flowers, posies and decorations Hung lifeless on walls and headstones. They did nothing wrong Why should they have to atone? I held life in my hands, in the mask of many coloured flowers Their colour a gift today, bright against the black. Together we tended her grave, And wished for the millionth time we could have her back. My fathers face somehow skeletal in the gloom Showed veiled pain and continued grief A wedding anniversary remembered yet celebrated alone Isn't right and brings no relief. The rain in the distance moves slowly and menacingly in It's first drops like tears from heaven above. The flowers in the brass vase are threatened by a hungry wind As Dad and I murmur our unending words of love. Forced by rain we flee our angels side Running to the car as if to hide And as I run I murmur one last time I love you Mum, I miss you by my side. It was then I felt warming presence A simple touch on my shoulder A touch filled with love neverending A brief light for when the dark emotions smoulder. We came to her and she returned in same A brief heartbeat bathed in love A love so strong it self immortal A brief encounter with my angel above. *~ Love and Compassion are the moral fabric of world peace. ~* |

you were indeed fortunte to have -however briefly-a moment of contact The pain never goes away You just get better at dealing with it And ,if you are brave, you realise that for there sake-you must live life well arthur Ps: i enjoy this poem |

Isis 2 years is such a short time and as Arthur says, the pain never goes away. Your poetry and experiences, however, are living proof of how close our loved ones stay. Never put these fleeting moments down to imagination, the love that allowed you to let your mum continue on, is the same love that keeps you close. I only wish more people would speak out about their awareness of those who they have lost... Ivor |
