Closer to Hell...

Days dark and dreary
Seem to follow him around
He walks through the house; her picture hangs in the hall
Never paying any attention; she went after the ball
Only three years old, eyes wide with life
Her memory cuts through him like a knife
Mom had never looked so sad
He’d never thought he’d see tears coming from his dad
Passing her bedroom he could see her teddy bear
Looking inside all he can do is stare
His mind going back to the scene
Hearing his mother’s horrified scream
The sound of a car screeching to a halt
Knowing that it was all his fault
Standing in front of her room he could see himself running to her
Her trusting green eyes looking to him and then it was all a blur
The ambulance came taking her away
And than that terrible heartbreaking day
When they put her down into the grave
Shock rocking through him in waves
Walking through her room to her little bed
Putting his hands on his head
Tears wont come but than he’s still so numb
If only his parents would yell and scream or tell him he’s dumb
But no one says a single word
Silence louder than anything he’d ever heard
If only he’d paid more attention
Too many possibilities to mention
He's running from the guilt
Filled with self loathing to the hilt
The loss of a life so precious and young
Beats down on his head as he hides from the sun

~Hello all! I know this poem is depressing but to be honest I'm in a really good mood. There's a very sad story behind this poem but I'd rather not relate it. I don't like the title and yes I know that the title should be from the author but if you have any suggie's I would be happy to hear them.~
