The Cage I fly away faster than ever this time I can’t take it any longer I have to get away Today must be the day So close to the window So close A bit farther… But not far enough The telltale yank tells me that As again I plummet towards the ground The bars of my cage in sight once more And my wings torn from the force of the chains Being wrapped around me again Far too tightly Then from the shadows comes that smile That sick smirk that’s always there You cant escape me, it whispers You can never escape You’re too weak I turn my head, too late That smirk is haunting my mind A steady rain begins to fall The drops fall from my face Raindrops? Or tears? How could it have happened again? I was sure I had left it And had moved on To fairer skies But of course I know It was simply a trick Some fun for her To see me try and fail again And again And again The rain falls heavier And I am weighed down By the drops? Or by grief? My face lifts to the heavens They’re crying for me Tears of sorrow? Or of mirth? How do I know this isn’t just a game Controlled by her anger Just as she controls me Taunting me Teasing me Waving my freedom before me Before snatching it away And tightening my chains Her evil smirk ever-present I’m too stubborn to give up Though I at times wish I weren’t If giving up would take away the pain of succumbing to darkness If it would release my spirit to brighter lands… Oh how I would love to stroll the lands of unoriginality again And swim in the blissful seas of conformity once more Or fly in the endless skies of ignorance of beauty forever But of course, these are foolish dreams I can’t go back to them No matter how much I want to The root of all evils has seen to that For once she seeks revenge There’s no going back ~~Poetry is written emotion~~ |

If you let go, then you can fly. An interesting poem that gave me much to think about. |
