Awakened once more by guilt I no longer fear what is to come Knowing the struggle is over That I will never be consumed I stare down at the shattered mirror And a smile is drawn to my face Though the mist of joy surrounds me I feel a sense of emptiness I look around to all but light And the forgotten feeling of fear returns My serenity gone in an instant I now stand hopeless Wishing and praying Looking for an answer To my knees I fall As tears re-stain my face Knowing I am at an end I raise my head to a glimmer of light And my laments come to a pause I race to this shred of hopeful reality Fueled only by fear Brighter the light becomes And I understand it is my only exit I reach the now familiar light in surprise Because the man in front of me knows me well I once again look into darkness And as desperation flows through my head I reach for the knife now beside me Hiding it behind me As I put on a smiling mask I wave over to the man And banish all remorse You have to read The Other Side of Myself to understand this one |
