My life is so empty
it's easy to see
The pain in my eyes
if you look close at me

But most people I know
just don't care enough
To look past my smile
to call my bluff

They only can see
the mask that I wear
Not the pain behind it
or the awful fear

I wish someone
would look inside
And get to know
the girl I hide

Show me that
I'm not a freak
Is that too much
for me to seek?

Aww, in some ways I feel like it's me talking in this poem.

I think that you have the emotions and wording just right in this poem, it's kind of sad yet it's able to convey the hurt in the poem. Brilliant job on that^^

I loved this part^ cause i also question why people don't take the time to look. I spose everyone feels like they are wearing a mask at one time or another and wonder why people don't care... I guess lots of people can relate but I feel like this poem was almost written for me

Thanks for sharing, it's nice to know i'm not the only one that feels like this!

Alot of people are so caught up on what's on the surface, maybe it doesn't occur to them that there's something alot different below. And as much as I want someone to see me, I can't stop pushing them away when they try.
