You were there from the start You watched as God enveloped my heart We shared the beginning of my life Hearts knelt in God's glorious Light You guided me from that very first day Mentor and child in every way Little did I realise what my life would become Weighted and heavy, an added sum Without our God, life is ended Mortals hopeless frailty rendered For God the only Light in darkness burns Forever a desperate, dark heart yearns I didn't know how far I'd gone Until you showed me what was wrong The plant from the vine removed Its lifeblood dry, death ensued My life I owe to my Saviour's heart His mercy from me ne'er depart But without you, my friend, I'd be Left in the dark for eternity Always remember wherever you roam A heart that loves you waits at home. |
