The point of no return

There's a kind of elation,
a freedom,
a newfound ability to breath
that comes with just not caring.
The knowledge that nothing,
no one,
could hurt you.
Any mortal wound,
searing pain,
threat of dying,
didn't matter.
When you don't care if it hurts,
can you feel pain at all?
