Salt Cedar I’ve known the love that blooms in Spring, when a new-warm sun rides high. I’ve known the love that lasts a day, but withers in a night. I want a salt-cedar love. It grows slow, but shoves down roots that will not die. Its bark is rough and knotted, with leaves both sharp and dry. It bends to the wind, but never breaks, though it may twist awry. Desert gods, if such there are, and you can hear my old worn sigh, give me a salt-cedar love, a love that wants to try. Pilgrimage, I very much enjoyed your write, especially: I want a salt-cedar love. It grows slow, but shoves down roots that will not die. Its bark is rough and knotted, with leaves both sharp and dry. It bends to the wind, but never breaks, though it may twist awry. Sadelite |

Sadelite, thanks! EA- Salt Cedar generally grows where there's nothing to make anything want to grow, so no, it won't grow in Ontario where there's good weather and water and stuff. ![]() Nan (Pilgrim variety) |

Titch-how very kind of you. I don't post often, I don't often have time to come here, but I'll look out for your poetry too. Ed, ![]() ![]() Noah, it's good to hear from you, you always have something kind to say. Martie, thank you. Martin, I'm so glad you liked it. passing shadows, I'm happy you like the last line, it came to me without any work on it, unlike the rest of the poem. Nan (Pilgrim variety) |
