She looked at her artist
not recognising him
as the man she loved
all these past years

Where is the warmth
she once saw
each time
he looked at her

What cruel joke
turned the man she loved
into this stranger
with winter in his eyes...

I think everyone is cold today!  "with winter in his eyes" is perfectly descriptive...I like it!
