The moon reflects sparkler silver in the rain puddles lined along the littered street,
a startling string of Chinese lanterns.
Icy air licks my lungs like Sai swords as I carefully slither into the night.
Twenty getcha forty, forty getcha eighty, eighty getcha a nice lady, hawks the Mexican Bob Barker as he bobs up and down, turning cards over the cardboard podium, like a reverend at Sunday Sermon.
The words crunch like footprints in packed snow within my mind.
I pray………..and crash into a trashcan teeming with rotten fruit, dirty diapers, and The New York Post. I slice my hand on the serrated rim. My finger bleeds for benevolence.
Union Square Station. Down, Down, Down,
Careful to avoid the spittle on the pocked red railing,
I enter the lair that leads down to the Cyclops mole. I hear his screech, guttural, emanating through the entrails of the earth.
Blown back by a windy wall of indifference, I step onto the platform.
Cracked cement caked in urine. Whiskered Onyx eyes bounce up and down
clacking echoes through the tunnel. I leave at least ten feet between me and the chasm.
I stand close to the stairwell, back to the wall, eyes like pinballs.
Bing bong, sing song, come along, pipes the mole. I hop inside careful not to look into the transparent sunglasses worn by the symbiotic creatures inside.
A gaunt skeleton shambles along. His shoes sing to me, he will be dead soon.
His overcoat, gray and lifeless, hangs loose, like elephant skin.
His shoes swallow his feet like limpid catfish in a barrel.
Suspended from a cord strung around his neck, a purple crayon sign grins from his chicken chest;
“Spare a million dollars for a cup of coffee”
Too late I say to myself, the shoes have spoken.
Ignorant to this, he sidles over to me, Le Forze del Destino.
His tobacco breath reaches down into my lungs and strangles the oxygen.
I cough, I vomit, I die, I arise, and he is gone.
“Pennsylvania Station, next stop Forty Second Street” chuffs the mole.
One more block.
I bolt, lightning quick, jackhammerin up the stairs two at a time,
and carefully slither into the night.
Elliptical soldiered streetlights pave the way. As if on stage a taught twitchy black man, dressed in fatigues, bathes within the glow, I cross.
Arms rigid, legs slinky stiff, face like onion peel, he mumbles and crumples into the street, I go on.
At the bottom of the escalator a crowd forms, static pops like careless corks over the radios, they rip the coat from his chicken chest and pump him like a shotgun, the sign strewn far.
I join the rest of the liquid throng, mouth agape, eyes waxy, like iced fish at the market, and head down to the L.I.R.R.

Definitely some powerful stuff happening here....

Because of the weight and breadth of your images I really recommend you look at your line spacing..

At the moment you're not doing justice to your talent with this near-sloppy form...

Images - great
word-talent - great
form - ties it together...

enjoyed it, hope you post more...

I'm a com-er-back-er-too from a long time ago...isn't it nice to know this steadfast haven is here?

Welcome back!  I enjoyed reading your expressive words and look forward to more!

This is one of the most thought provoking most excellent writes I have read.
